The piece, through the analysis of the vision of the eastern wisdom made by Elémire Zolla, intend to outline how this wisdom tends to constitute herself in a sense of a path to salvation. Therefore it has a deep educative value, destined to become known as the crucial task of the education, a perspective overlooked by the contemporary western knowledge.

In a period dominated by the ethics of power, where justice and injustice are to serve the strongest, there is an urgent need to identify the human potential, inventorying its paths beyond the means to reach it. Through Plato, who emphasizes the changeability of human nature, not ignoring the law of the strongest and its tension, we get closer to the layout of individualization and help. There’s the unveiling of being, the logos which seizes the being through logoi, but also the risk of educere, where the unveiling of the truth threatens to become doxa or even the extermination of other’s beings.

Since the end of Nineties, the political agenda of the European Union has devoted a growing attention to the initial teacher education. In Education and Training 2010 and in the following Education and Training 2020 as well as in the European documents specifically dedicated to the initial teacher education, this last is seen as a crucial factor for a quality education; moreover, here the political will to delineate a European teacher profile by a common European competence framework has been declared and the European States members have been encouraged at implementing a quality assurance system. The supranational discourse on the teacher education is taking shape in an educational scenario which has been showing sharp and significant differences at national and supranational levels for what regards time, content and ways of the teacher education both for primary school teachers and for secondary school teachers. On the basis of such consideration, this contribute is devoted to use the Italian context, specifically the initial education of secondary teachers, as a point of view from which looking at in parallel and critically comparing the main moments that have characterized the national and European political discussion since the Nineties. This analysis is aimed at understanding the possible points of contact and distance between the supranational discourse and national one in order to reflect on the dynamics, the interrelationships and the forces which affect the education of secondary school teachers and to prospect further deepening and investigations.

The article broaches the theme of Roman art, scanning its deep identitarian authentication. It does that through the explication of the differences between classical and classicism. In this way the “aesthetic canons” of art in republican and imperial Rome are analyzed. The peculiar style of the latter points out the connections between city planning and architecture, considering however in the first instance the processes of the self-formation and the education of the Roman mans. The article thinks again the history of pedagogy in connection with the history of aesthetics. This, in the Christianiconography, will record the conclusion of classical and classicism, as well as the passage from the man of virtus to the man of perfectio.

The contribution deals with the problem of Quality Assurance in Higher Education, which has become central in the international scene. It gives an overview about questions regarding the necessary establishment of a culture of quality in Europe as the major element of innovation directed to allow a real transformation of the specific university contexts, the role of “National Agencies” with reference to the agreements, the standards and guidelines that are shared by states, institutions and organizations that are part of the “European Higher Education System” and see acting a “governance” within a common space and territory in search of a balanced relationship between processes of external and internal evaluation.

Roman citizenship was articulated in a social hierarchy based on the commitment to shared values, which were embodied in civic virtues (the observance of which is defined cumulatively by Livy by the name of dignitas: patriotism, morality, etc.). In this sense, every 5 years, in the ceremony called census, the magistrates called censors, distributed the citizens in the hierarchized social orders, in accordance with the dignitas of their actions. By doing so, censors and citizens gave life to an official social hierarchy in which privileges were balanced by duties: the higher was the social position awarded to each citizen, the greater was his responsibility and committment to the common good (res publica). By participating in the census, Roman youth, through the combined effect of censors’ ritual evaluation, and the public display of the system of values (embodied and disseminated through the exempla: virtuous role models, presented to citizens by the means of national history, literature and the visual arts) was in such way “educated” to the value system, which structured Roman society. In a historical context where a national education system did not exist, all this can be considered as a “ceremonial” form of civic education. However, it was a “holistic” form of education typical of ancient cultures, as it aimed especially at the regimentation of citizens in the social structure, when the whole of society was more important than its individual members (salus rei publicae suprema lex esto).

Makarenko in prison tells the adventure of the great educator and Ukrainian novelist Anton S. Makarenko in Calabria, in the prison of Siano / Catanzaro "Ugo Caridi", from June 2015 to June 2016. This is the chronicle of the extraordinary experience of a Writing Workshop and reading and its first printed results. The essay topic: the ability of writing, which precedes the ability to read the text critically. You learn to write before learning to read. The reading is made possible by the previous mental processing of the player. The experience of writing becomes more significant if it occurs during the reading of their writings and deliverables of the other (written, films, music, paintings, artefacts etc.). All this teaches and continues to teach what can and should be in prison, to implement the content of Article 27 of the Constitution of the Italian Republic, on the education of the convicted. And the reeducation of those who teach freely.

Leaning on available documents, in the present essay we tried to emphasize the contribution of Jella Lepman, a Jewish German, to the work of “reeducation” of the younger generations in Germany in the aftermath of World War II. Founder of the famous Internationale Jugendbibliothek of Monaco and of the International Committee of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young people), Lepman chose to create democratic citizenship paths through books meant for children. Her work and idea to bet on books to promote change, still today offers fruitful stimuli to those called to teach in a society characterized, more and more, by migratory phenomena and by a lack of perspectives.
